What is RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. And it’s pretty much universally symbolized by that little icon thing above.
The premise is pretty simple.
Basically, it’s just a way for content to be delivered directly to you from many blogs throughout the web. That way, you don’t have to check back to see if new articles, podcasts, or videos have been released by your favorite websites. RSS will send them to you. There are two basic ways for you to make that work.
1. If you subscribe to the RSS by clicking on the icon or the link in my sidebar, you will be taken to a page that asks you what RSS reader you use. If you don’t use one yet, you can pick from the list they give you. There are far too many readers for me to list here. Some you download, many are web based, and pretty much all of them are free.
Once you’ve selected a reader, all of my content (and other’s you sign up for) will be sent to that RSS reader. Now you can read all your favorite blogs from one place instead of jumping around. Here area few popular readers.

2. Secondly, you can subscribe via email. While the feed is still technically RSS, you will receive updates and articles through email instead of a separate reader. This is a good option for many people who don’t need to be bogged down by the extra RSS reader software. To do this, simply navigate to the right of any page on my site and enter your email address in the box. Then click subscribe, that’s it!
Note: You can unsubscribe to an RSS feed in a reader or through email very easily. Don’t worry about being needlessly hammered with content. If you don’t like what you’re getting, simply cancel it.
Hopefully that clears the air a little. Now that you know what it is, feel free to sign up to my feed!
